4 Ways You Can Make 2021 Your Best Year Yet

4 Ways You Can Make 2021 Your Best Year Yet

By February, most people have forgotten the resolutions they made on New Year’s Day. In fact, only ten percent of people work toward their resolutions for more than a couple of months. Over eighty percent of resolutions fail altogether.

If you’re like the majority of people, you probably have goals that have eluded you, no matter how many times you’ve resolved to meet them. After the difficulties of 2020, perhaps you’ve taken the time to think about what life you really want to live. 2021 is the year to accomplish your goals and go after the life you really want. It’s time to live life to the fullest.

Below are four ways you can make sure 2021 is your best year ever. By developing these habits, you can finally create the life you want.

  1. Manage your time (and resources) well.

To manage your time well, you need to learn how to use your time both efficiently and effectively.

Using time efficiently means doing things in a methodical way that allows you to get things done in a timely manner. For many people, having a planner helps them to plan the tasks that need to be done. When you organize your day around what you want and need to get done, you prepare yourself to complete the tasks on your to do list.

But what if checking items off of your to do list isn’t helping you get the important things done? A lot of us have long to do lists of tasks that aren’t really moving us toward our long-term goals.

That brings us to the goal of being effective with our time. It’s not only important to check items off your to do list, but to make sure the items on that list are the right tasks in the first place. Using your time effectively means that the things you’re doing are working toward your values, your purpose, and your goals.

For women of faith, how you spend your time must ultimately reflect God’s will for your life. Are the tasks on your to do list in alignment with God’s will and direction for your life?

Hebrews 13:20-21 says, “Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

God equips us to do His will. However, we’re still responsible for making sure that our daily actions are in alignment with God’s will. As a woman of faith, it’s important to create a plan for the day that’s in alignment with that vision.

What is your vision for your life? Are there goals you can make this year to move yourself closer to living into that vision? Take some time to create specific goals that will help you to be the woman you’re called to be. Set yourself up to succeed by breaking those goals into small, actionable steps.

  1. Stay focused by having a plan & working your plan.

Proverbs 16:3 tells us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans.” As you begin to plan for the rest of 2021, create a plan and don’t allow yourself to get distracted.

The acronym F.O.C.U.S. can help you remember how to get things done: Follow One Course of action Until Successful.

The successful mompreneur creates a schedule and then sticks to it. Sticking to your plan and keeping focus is the only way to get things done. If you’re constantly switching focus, you won’t make any movement toward your goals.

To keep your focus, build routines that you practice daily and weekly, with consistency. Schedule your routine tasks like laundry, meal planning and preparation, and grocery shopping. When you schedule everything and stick to your schedule, you master your time. Mastering your time is essential if you want to reach your goals.

  1. Commit to growth – keep learning.

One of the best ways to reach your goals tomorrow is by learning how to reach your goals today. When you learn new ideas and skills, you equip yourself to grow beyond your current success boundaries.

It’s important that you don’t just learn new things, but that you take time to implement the new things you’ve already learned. No one gets better just by diagnosing their problems or issues. It’s important to diagnose not just the outward signs of problems, but the root causes behind them. Once you’ve determined the right course of action to treat your problems, do it! Implementing what you’ve learned is key to growth.

James 1:22 tells us to be doers of the word, and not hearers only. While hearing and learning what God’s word has to say to us is helpful, doing what it says is what actually helps us follow God’s will. Learning is just the first step to growth.

  1. Find the right community.

The community you’re a part of is a key component toward reaching your goals and creating the life you want to live. In a community, you can receive encouragement, learn creative solutions to your problems, and find support and accountability. A good community will encourage you to grow into the best version of yourself.

It’s been said that you’re the average of the five people you spend time with in community. That means that the people you spend time play a huge role in the person you’ll be tomorrow.

It’s nearly impossible to grow by yourself. Take the time to surround yourself with like-minded folks and learn from them. Together, you’ll grow into the people you want to be.

I’ve had it on my heart recently to create a community for moms of faith. I hope to share more about this community in the coming days. To help me create this community, I have a few questions for you:

  • What kinds of community do you have?
  • What do you look for in a community?
  • What makes you join a community (online or in person)?

Email me and let me know!   And sign up for my list to be the first to hear when I launch my community. I’m looking forward to being in community with all of you!
