I know exactly how you feel because I have been there!  I can help.

I spent thirteen years in Corporate America, climbing the proverbial ladder and obtaining a six-figure salaried job. While it was comfortable, I was always wanting and wishing to start my own business, but was afraid to take the leap. I finally overcame my fear, quit my job and set out to start my own business, with the expectation that as the boss there would be the freedom, flexibility and ability to balance my life on my terms.

But just about 2 years ago, I was struggling. I soon realized that running my own business in of itself was NOT the cure for the work -family - life balance conundrum I expected.

In fact, I was working even harder, and making far less than the six figures I had given up!  

While my business achieved great success quickly and media recognition, I was stretched thin spending many nights and weekends (prime family time) at the studio and even when I was at home, I was consumed with what seemed like a never ending amount of work.

That is when I realized that while it felt good to have control and autonomy over my own business, what I did NOT have was full control over my time.

In some ways, I had really just created a demanding JOB for myself. A job that required more hours and paid less than I had previously.  And I was pretty much consumed by it.

I felt guilty about decreasing our family income by giving up my corporate salary, but even MORE guilty about the limited time I had to spend with the family.  Limited QUALITY time that is. Because a lot of times I was with them physically but wasn’t present mentally.

I vividly remember one day my daughter showed me a picture of our family she had made at school. I was drawn with what looked like a box by me. Curious, I asked what it was.

     "Mommy, I drew you with your laptop because you are always working and on your phone"

I was DEVASTED!

I came to the realization that I just hadn’t been nurturing my people and tending to my ‘home’ as much as I wanted to.

That's when I thought there had to be a better, SMARTER way to rock this business thing and still enjoy the rest of my life! I wanted to kill it in my business - and at home.

     I realized if I was going to maintain my sanity and any semblance of balance - which was the main reason I had started my business in the first place - then I had to take a step back, determine my priorities and what I desired for my business and life and make some changes accordingly!

And over time, that's just what I did. I developed structure, systems and processes to align my business and home with what was most important.

I now have systems in place that I continue to build upon as I learn, adapt and grow.  There is always going to be continuous learning and adjustments to be made but having the system and structure is ESSENTIAL. 

I first focused on my business but then applied the same concept to my home (because after all running a home IS like running an organization), AND THAT TURNED OUT TO BE A TRUE GAME-CHANGER!

I am now “working ON the business instead of just IN it" and I have the balance and fulfillment that I desire. I wake up each day knowing exactly what the Plan is for the day and what tasks deliver the most return and have maximized my time.  I get way more done than ever before in way less time. Which means, I now spend and enjoy true quality time with my husband and my kids. And I have time left over to indulge in the things that make my soul happy. 

There is calm, order, peace and fun at home (which is huge for a family of SIX). That then spills over into how I approach my business and my WHOLE life is better for it.

Or maybe you jumped head first and went into hustle mode to get things done, but haven't set up the foundation necessary for your business to scale. 

Or that your business took off and grew so fast that you just ended up sucked into the day-to-day operations just to keep up and get things done.  And ironically it became even harder to stop and make the time to implement those much needed foundational systems that would actually alleviate the stress and overwhelm you currently face.
